Troy Leatherman, Faculty

Troy Leatherman is currently a Firefighter/Paramedic for Lebanon Fire Department in Lebanon, NH. He has been in the fire service for 15 years and has several commendations and achievement awards. He enjoys the opportunity of helping people in his community in their time of need and the day-to-day responsibilities and opportunities of being a firefighter.

Troy is also an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in the US Air Force National Guard and is a Team Leader with the 158th EOD flight in Burlington, VT. He currently holds the rank of MSgt and is on track to be promoted within the year. He is skilled at and tasked with rendering safe explosive threats stateside and in foreign countries. He has received numerous awards and medals during his 12-year career.

Troy is an advocate for psychological stress injury prevention in his first responder and Air Force National Guard work. He promotes techniques to prevent stress injury and to better manage pre and post-critical incidents stress, including yoga, breathing techniques, meditation, and healthy coping strategies. All of which increase overall mental health resilience. Troy shares breathing strategies on EMS calls with patients having an acute stress reaction.

His hobbies include hiking, fishing, biking, long-range shooting, and trying to keep up with his two toddler sons. He has volunteered with several state and national organizations, including Friends of Firefighters, EOD Warrior Foundation, The Gallant Few, and Team Red, White, and Blue.
